If Heritage Oaks Golf Course were to have a personality, she'd be a classic Southern lady, gorgeous and charming, yet independent and tough ... teasingly enticing you from under her hibiscus, mossy oak and sage palm veils.

The golf venue of Heritage Oaks is located within the 2,000 acres of the Columbia Lakes Resort and Conference Center - 40 acres of Lagoons and streams to provide beauty. Both the high and low handicap golfers can enjoy a day with this beautiful Southern charmer.

The course, designed by renowned golf architect Tom Fazio, measures 7,015 yards full of Championship Golf and plays to par 72.

The meticulously maintained course is enhanced by winding lakes, lush fairways and moss-covered oak trees and features dogleg fairways and the lagoons come into play on eleven holes. Although there are several different types of memberships available, all of the facilities are open to the public. There are fees for golf, swimming and tennis, but the public is welcome. Of course members and hotel guests may have priority in peak times.

The year ‘round climate is amenable for golf, with coastal breezes that keep this venue more temperate than even Houston.

And just 45 minutes south of Houston, Heritage Oaks is just far enough away that you feel like you're getting away, but it's not the three-hour drive you'd face heading to Austin.

The course is so peaceful and serene, you hardly notice that you double-bogeyed four holes on the front!

Classic Fazio-style golf awaits you at Heritage Oaks. No doubt about it, this is a Tom Fazio designed (1973) and re-designed (1989) course! You'll find small greens are on the easier holes, while the harder holes come with larger greens.

Other Fazio trademarks include subtle elevation changes and well-protected greens.

In the Fazio tradition, the par-5's greens are fairly small. The #5 par-5 used to be listed among the "Dream 18" of Texas back when that was annual article was published. Number five features water all along the inside edge of the dogleg.
